Get 2 Steppin is a navigation app designed to assist users in finding the safest and most efficient route on sidewalks by alerting them to any potential hazards or obstacles that may require them to detour or engage in potentially dangerous behavior, such as walking on the street to bypass an obstacle.
How might we help UCLA students avoid sidewalk hazards and obstacles so that they can get to their destinations in a safe and timely manner?
Students in the Westwood neighborhood were in need of a solution to help them safely navigate around hazards and obstacles while walking, in order to avoid putting themselves in potentially dangerous situations or increasing the length of their commute.
Get 2 Steppin' is a navigation app designed with UCLA students in mind. To helping them navigate the sidewalks more efficiently in the Westwood neighborhood. The app allows users to report, view, and clear hazards on the sidewalks in a gamified manner, rewarding participation with discounts at local businesses. It also helps users find the quickest and safest route to their destination by focusing on the sidewalks rather than the streets, like most other navigation apps. This app aims to provide students with a more enjoyable, enriching, and safe walking experience in Westwood.
A versatile eco-friendly luggage tag incorporating a digital travel companion.
An eco-friendly luggage tag made from upcycled billboard materials, The BFF can be worn as a crossbody bag, bringing it out of the closet and onto the streets. Its digital companion feature allows for the sharing of memories, creating a digital heirloom that can be passed down as you wish.
How can we take a simple luggage tag and craft it in a way that makes it truly circular so that it has a life beyond the closet and incorporating a digital component?
The team found that durability was a major hurdle. It needed to be something that is resilient to the demands of travel but then also be aesthetically pleasing. We also found that we needed a way to answer the needs of the business and how to increase customer engagement and increase perceived value.
A three-in-one luggage strap made of up-cycled billboard called the BFF. It can be split into two luggage straps for you and a bestie. Also, with its built in pocket, you can take it off luggage and wear it as a cross body bag for carrying your things. Making great from travel but also great for when you need a small bag at home. The BFF also includes an NFC chip for linking you to it digital companion: a photo album filled with images from your journeys. Part of the experience is having the option to pass on the BFF to your BFF, so they can contribute to the album. That way it could contain a lifetime of memories from all over the world.
