An individualized hub for patients to prepare for their appointments.
An individualized hub for patients to prepare for their appointments at Planned Parenthood.
The main problem we identified is that there is no streamlined platform for patients to access information personalized to them. Instead, the search for information is scattered across different platforms. Planned Parenthood’s website has useful information to prepare patients for their visit, however, we discovered there is a lack of engagement with their content online.
Privacy - Many of Planned Parenthood’s patient demographics include 18 - 24-year-olds who don’t want their parents or partners to find out about their appointment. From our user testing, we discovered that patients want to leave a minimal digital trail and worry less about their privacy. Organized Information - One challenge we ran into is how to organize this information to prevent cognitive overload. We tailored the information based on when it would be most relevant and useful for them.
To bridge this gap, we created an individualized hub for patients to access information at the right place and time. Patients will receive nudge texts with a link to learn more about their appointment with curated information based on their health services.
Virtual gaming for a sustainable future.
Our team received a mysterious brief. Create a detailed settlement plan on the MS-Dos Island, an imaginative isolated environment in the Pacific Ocean untouched by human lifeforms. This island is surrounded by healthy coral reefs and is inhabited by wild species like the beautiful, endangered Takahe birds. In this project, we had to navigate ambiguity through sustainable research, design thinking, and an extensive, detailed 10-year project plan.
During the ideation phase, our team compiled all of the research we gathered only to realize that all other ideas we brainstormed paled in the knowledge of how dire the global climate crisis is. Rising sea levels and global warming would submerge the island in a matter of years, so we couldn't justify creating a new civilization on a ticking clock. Based on the brief we were given, our team originally thought about tourism and human settlement on the MS-Dos Island but the destructive practices of both concepts combined with global climate issues nudged us towards a different path. Instead, we refocused our efforts on asking how we could protect the island and environments like it. Our final decision was to create a civilization within a VR game using the island to simulate the impacts of global warming.
Settling on the island may pose environmental problems in the island. The island may eventually go underwater due to the effects of climate change. Experiencing the effects of climate change may be an effective way to promote action.
Ecolution is an interactive VR game that uses MS-DOS island to simulate the impacts of global warming. The game implements behavior design methodologies to nudge players toward sustainable living and a healthier state of mind.
A personalized COVID-19 travel essentials kit for flyers.
MeKit is for flyers to feel safe, seen, and secure when flying during COVID-19. Our solution provides customers with personalized travel kits, waiting at their seats. Each one of the several kits is tailored to a specific archetype, which flyers choose when they check-in. MeKit was created in the midst of COVID-19 to transform what would be a stressful experience, into a safe and positive one.
During COVID-19, airlines and airports struggled to provide travelers with a unified safety response. This thus impacted the emotional and physical well-being of flyers.
Flyers needed reassurance to feel safe while traveling. To provide reassurance, we researched how can airlines respond in a way that can ease their passengers’ anxiety and answer their uncertainty about air travel.
Our solution was to create several essential kits based on different types of flyer archetypes. These kits include important safety items such as surgical mask packs, antiviral wipes, hand sanitizer, and portable soap sheets to name a few. Additionally, each kit includes unique extra items specific to each archetype. This allows flyers to experience a moment of joy receiving a special kit tailored to their travel personality and will help them on their journey.
